A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
