Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
