The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.

Digital Channels Response

Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
